#Dremel mm35 driver#
You should be able to force a screw driver into the indention and lock the shaft or you might be able to glue a bolt or piece of threaded rod into the button for future use. Either it is stripped or the button is stripped. Pop the blue button off and see if you can find the indention on the dremel shaft that used to lock it.

I would definitely give it to your roommate and ask for a replacement "he broke it, he bought it" You should be able to get the bit out with one of the methods below.but the tool is going to be a pain in the arse to use for the rest of its life now. I had the same thing happen to me with one of the small dewalt angle grinders many years ago. He even wore out one of my sanding discs and broke one of my cutting wheels without even having the common courtesy to show and tell me:Ī lot of those locking mechanisms (blue button or what the button fits into) are made out of plastic these days.odds are he torqued it too hard installing the bit or it stripped when you tried to remove the bit. I tried spinning the motor up, turning it off and then trying to loosen the thingy again but no difference. Should buy some star wrenches, split the cases and see WTH is going on there or should I just get my housemate to buy me a new dremel? Or could I claim warranty? I feel a little extra resistance when I turn the thingy, but pressing the button doesn't make anything lock at all - it's like the locking mechanism has been worn away? I only bought the dremel this year, I'd think that it'd be tough enough to handle abuse!! Now I don't know how my housemate locked this attachment in - maybe he grabbed the wrench which comes with the dremel kit, put it on the thingy, and spun the motor up? Would this have caused too much stress on the locking mechanism and eaten it away? The problem is that pressing in the blue button and turning the thingy that grabs onto the shaft of whatever attachment you have in (let's call it 'thingy'), does not really do much. (damn there's a lot of cosmetic wear on this dremel - the bastard house mate has used this damn thing more than I have) I've just gone to use the dremel after about 3 months of non use and found that the idiot has left an attachment done up in it, and I can't get the bastard out. Last person to use my dremel was my housemate.
